The RAF's Merlin helicopters have flown their last mission in Afghanistan.

They are being sent home as part of the drawdown that could see British troops leave altogether by the end of next year.

The aircraft were first sent to Helmand amid public outcry that a shortage of helicopters could be leaving troops vulnerable.
