A Royal Navy destroyer and four mine hunters are in the Arabian Gulf for the world's largest international anti-sea mines exercise involving six and a half thousand sailors.

The drills follow tensions over Iran's nuclear programme and its threat to cut off a third of the world's oil supply by placing mines on the Strait of Hormuz.

Britain's floating support base in the Gulf and tactical command centre for its mine hunters there is the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Cardigan Bay.
