We were startled to find cremated human remains on a makeshift memorial shrine deep inside the Monarch-Rand Mine near Fremont Peak. In another unnamed mine near Red Mountain, we found ourselves entering the bottom of a deep, open stope (crevasse) from which we could look up and see the sky. This unnamed mine near also had a hidden talc deposit deep underground.
