My three nephews and I spent the day in the Anza-Borrego Desert exploring the mud caves and slot canyons there. The mud caves are thousands of years old, and they are formed by the erosive action of flowing rainwater. Being that the desert is very arid and lacks frequent rainfall, one can imagine how long it takes for these caves and canyons to form.
