I decided to rekindle my childhood love of chess with an account on chess.com... Two decades after being part of a chess club (and teaching my sister just enough so I could always win) let's see how I do as I climb to whatever my rating is/should be/whatever.
Full disclosure: I've never stopped playing chess, but none of my friends I've played with are rated or anything and my niece is learning chess in school, so honestly these videos are for her more than anything. At some point in high school we did a rating test thing or something but I never played in any officially sanctioned events or tournaments.
After my rating stabilizes at whatever I will likely end the series, but continue playing every night before bed... If you want to play against me feel free to add me on Chess.com (TooTechnical You'll recognize my mascot Nickel in my profile icon) but as long as I'm doing this series I'll only be playing matches against people around the current rating I'm at.
