This was quite a journey for me. I came back to this category in Feburary 2021 when my personal best was 1:27:13, which is over 10 minutes behind this current PB I achieved on the 25th September 2021. Over the course of the year, I've learned a lot about this game, its mechanics and how to play faster and more accurately. While I still have a bit to learn, I'm really pleased that I was able to achieve this time having not speedran a Fire Emblem game before this one.

So Verdant Wind/Golden Deer route is has the 2nd heaviest RNG out of the 4 routes. This is in part due to an earlygame that required a lot of benchmarks to be hit in order to skip 90% of Chapter 5, and Byleth having enough strength to deal with Kronya and Edelgard towards the end of Part 1. Chapter 1 is also the worst out of the 4 routes, as many things can go wrong which doesn't include the benchmark that needs to be hit

Benchmarks needed to be hit
-Byleth must gain a strength level up (45%) on the prologue chapter for a faster Chapter 1, you'd likely only have 1 opportunity to get this. There's a low chance of getting 2 chances though
-Lysithea must gain 1 Magic point in Chapter 1 in order to Warp Catherine further enough in Chapter 5, she has 1 or 2 chances at this at a 60% Magic growth
-In the forced Auxiliary mission in Chapter 2, Byleth should hit 17 Strength, 12 Speed, 11 Dexterity and needs to be level 10 at the end of the fight. This is so that she promotes to Thief without getting stats forced up to base for that class (11 speed, 11 dexterity), and 4 hit Kostas for a faster Chapter 2
-Byleth must hit Level 15 at the end of Chapter 4, which is the minimum level to recruit Catherine in Chapter 5 without any Support levels
-Lysithea must hit B Faith Magic level to get Warp before the Chapter 5 mission. In order to do this, in Chapter 3 you must skip to the 29th and not the mission date, otherwise Lysithea loses out on Faith experience due to the Monday Mission glitch. We also need an extra Seminar with Manuela
-Catherine must gain 1 Strength point during Chapter 5 to 2 shot the Death Knight in Chapter 6. She has 3 chances to do this with a 60% chance to grow each level
-To one round Edelgard in Chapter 12 Byleth needs 27 strength with the Sublime Creator Sword
-Claude's Strength at the start of Chapter 13 needs to be at least 26 or over. If it's 25 you run the risk of losing the run but can still save it (with an energy drop). However if it's 24 or lower it's an automatic run loss as too much time is lost. Fortunately in this run, Claude starts off at 33 strength (5 over average)
-Claude must hit 31 Strength and Level 3 Immortal Corps Battalion by the end of Chapter 14. This gives him enough strength to one round Gwendal with the Brave Bow in Chapter 15. This run's Claude was so strong though that he only required 3/4 hits of the Brave Bow to defeat Gwendal
-Lysithea needs 38 = HP + Res with Pure Water by Chapter 21 to survive Quake E from Thales, as she's needed for Chapter 22 to use Retribution Battalion. This is entirely random for 16/19 levels as most of what she gains is via the timeskip levelling in Normal Mode. On average, she should gain +3 HP and +4 Res, which is enough from her bases to reach this benchmark with HP +5 ability from mastering the Noble Class. With her unique character ability, Mastermind, she should always get this ability before the end of Chapter 11

Benchmarks that makes the speedrun faster
-Byleth has to hit 24 strength by the end of Chapter 7 for a faster Chapter 8 strat. Otherwise you must use Thunderbrand
-To oneshot Kronya in Chapter 10, Byleth's Strength + (Magic x 0.3, rounded down if there is a decimal) must equal 31 before using Ruptured Heaven art on the Sword of the Creator, otherwise you must rely on a crit (25% - 3X%) or use another strategy
-To one round Flame Emperor in Chapter 11 Byleth needs 26 strength with the Sublime Creator Sword, otherwise Thunderbrand must be used
-Claude needs to hit S Bows by Chapter 19 to get an extra 10% crit chance on the Death Knight (and subsequently Nemesis), but not get too much otherwise in the final month you lose time from Claude wanting to change goals
-Claude must hit 46 strength to oneshot Nemesis with a critical hit with the Fallen Star Art from Failnaught. Depending on Claude's dexterity + Bow Crit +10 this number is between 40-5X%. Otherwise you spend another turn baiting him off his tile so he doesn't recover nearly all his max HP

I didn't realise how many benchmarks there were until I listed them all down lol. Despite this daunting list I've had a lot of fun running this game, and I do hope I'll pick up this category again in the future. And I hope you enjoy watching this speedrun!
