The Fire Staff rework on the New World PTR massively changes and buffs the mage weapon in various ways. Pillar of Fire, Meteor Shower and Fireball are now all effective in an aggressive ranged playstyle. While Flamethrower goes unchanged, both Incinerate and Burnout receive major overhauls that distributes the burst differently. All abilities play more around the Smolder mechanics, which replaces most Burn effects on the weapon. Smolder also plays a role in the new Backdraft capstone perk.
