In the New World Fellowship & Fire update, the Musket will receive major changes, which are mostly nerfs. The accuracy of the weapon itself is reduced, making it rely on the Accuracy perk to be effective. Ballistic Advantage is replaced with Steady Hands, reducing the damage at long ranges. The damage falloff of elemental gems slotted in ranged weapons is also fixed, further reducing the elemental portion of the Musket's damage. On top of that, Stopping Power also receives a direct nerf to its damage output. And last but not least, Mortal Empowerment, one of the most popular perks for Musket users, is also being nerfed. But how do these changes actually work? Is the Musket worth using after the patch at all? And why on earth would I claim that the Musket even received an indirect buff this patch?
