How many 2D action games do you know that are actually good and that showcase Chinese mythology in a traditional art style? Not many, but this sure is one of em. I had alot of fun playing this that I had to stream an extra hour just to see/use the next set of combinations. I might make it its own playlist. Selected easy difficulty. The combat experience definitely drew me in, I couldn't wait to kill everyone hahaha. The more enemies I faced, the more I loved the high-octane combo system.

Play as Princess Ji Jiang of Qi, youngest daughter of Duke Kang whose kingdom is located in Linzi. With a powerful bloodline of the Ancient God, Ji wields the Fiendbane that she has carried all her life. The moment I saw that the weapon had 2 ground attacks (Stormcloud & Shatterer) and 2 air attacks (Whirlwind & Twister), I couldn't wait to see what they look like.

Yellow souls upgrade abilities, green souls restore HP and there's a good amount to collect after killing monsters. I like the design of the shield, Cicada Wings closing into a cicada orb.

Game kicked off with her sister Shu's news of marrying Duke Tian. Ji headed to talk to her father. On the way to see her father, she killed a monster. That monster turned out to be her father. Shu instructs her to escape and doesn't leave stating that she is marrying Duke Tian. Climbed the cauldron to get onto the roof to escape The Serpent.

Tian sent his people after Ji and put up bulletins with instructions to kill on sight. Ji seeks shelter from the forest of thorns outside of Linzi and met Hou Yi. Hou Yi gifts her a weapon called The Crimson Mass. Crimson Mass also has 2 ground attacks (Tsunami & Moonstrike) & 2 air attacks (Incineration & Lightning). Plus attacks reduce super armor and deflect projectiles.

At this point, we're like roughly 15minutes into the game, I have 8 types of attacks and to find out I could upgrade em all a minute later, awesome. Met Mo Ye to point Ji in the right direction and spoke of soul lamp. The soul lamp will heal you and enhance your powers. You can spend souls to unlock abilities as well as manage your soul silvers at save points.

16:17 First look at Upgrade and I love how it shows the demonstration of the moves. Loved the look of Shadowstrike but couldn't get it as I need 4000 souls and I only had just over 1000. So as soon as I closed the upgrade screen, I was like, time to kill everyone I need some souls haha Oh also help Ji find the truth and save her sister. ha!

This was a delight to play.
