The entire Thief series defines stealth games. It laid the foundation for later games like Aragami, Mark of the Ninja, and Styx. You have noise levels, light levels, and a lack of ability to go toe-to-toe with enemies. You have enemies with patrol patterns, methods of decreasing light and sound, and methods of escaping if detected. The graphics in Thief show their age, but I still like the game. Not technically a first play, because I played it back in my undergrad days, when it first came out. But that was 25 years ago, and I remembered only enjoying it, didn't remember much of the game at all. But I intend to enjoy it all over again.
