Fitness Circuit - Game Review

Hey there, game enthusiasts! Welcome back to the Veteran Game channel. Today, we're stepping away from the virtual battlefields and cities to flex our muscles with a fitness game for the Nintendo Switch - Fitness Circuit. For those of you seeking a solid exercise routine while enjoying some gaming, this might just be your cup of tea.

Fitness Circuit taps into the concept of Super Circuit Training, blending cardio and strength workouts to ensure a balanced exercise routine. After you set up your profile and specify your fitness goals, each day you're offered a personalized routine mixing cardio and strength activities. Each exercise typically lasts for 45 seconds to a minute, giving you an intense burst of activity, followed by a well-deserved rest period. If you're tight on time, you have the option to go through your routine just once, but for those looking for a more robust workout, you can repeat it multiple times.

With Fitness Circuit, you need to be prepared to work up a sweat. Much like 2021's Knockout Home Fitness, this game is tailored for individuals who are already in decent shape or at least not completely new to exercise. The cardio sessions are designed to keep your body in motion with a variety of actions like heel taps, kicks, and punches, reminiscent of a Richard Simmons workout tape. Strength exercises, on the other hand, focus more on slower, muscle-stretching movements.

With a total of 45 exercises, there's plenty of variety, though not all activities seem equally impactful. But even the less strenuous ones like the March and Butt-Kick serve a purpose, offering a brief respite between more intense strength exercises. It's important to note that while the game claims you only need to train for "10 minutes a day," a full session, including the pre-workout stretch and post-workout cooldown, should take around half an hour.

Fitness Circuit offers six trainers, voiced by notable anime voice actors, to accompany you throughout your fitness journey. They're customizable with new outfits that you unlock as you level up. The trainers, technically referred to as runners in the game, compete in events in Extreme Park, a sci-fi version of American Gladiators. The better you do at your exercises, the faster they'll complete their courses, though honestly, your focus will likely be on getting your movements right rather than on the sports they're participating in.

But Fitness Circuit is not without its flaws. Despite its simple guide to performing movements, I've found that the game doesn't always accurately track your actions. There were moments when I felt I should have earned a better rating for my movements. The joy-con controllers give a soft vibration when you get each movement right, and if you don’t feel that vibration, chances are the game isn't tracking you properly.

A feature that sadly I didn't get a chance to test out is the online multiplayer mode. This allows you and up to three friends to compete in different exercise routines, offering a fun way to stay motivated. Another useful feature is the Custom Circuit mode, which lets you create your own routines or use ready-made ones with exercises you've unlocked.

Despite some localization issues and tracking concerns, Fitness Circuit is a comprehensive package for anyone looking for a fitness game on Switch or searching for a new way to keep active. So, if you're ready to sweat it out while enjoying your gaming time, this could be an excellent choice for you.

As always, thanks for tuning in to Veteran Game, your place for comprehensive game reviews. Until next time, stay fit, have fun, and keep gaming!
