Five Nights At Freddy's: Security Breach - Full RUIN DLC on Steam Deck With Performance Overlay
Figured I'd do this since people like when I showed off the base game on Steam Deck.
For the most part, you can maintain over 60 FPS on settings that are a sort of middle ground between Medium and High. I didn't get much more performance by going lower with the settings and that would just make the game look worse anyway. I also believe base game my have seen some improvements but overall it was similar performance to my first video, maybe just slightly better.
A few odd things worth noting though:
-A lot of the brief animated cutscenes, such as when the elevator falls at the beginning or when Chica does a fake out jumpscare on you when you see her for the first time, will cause severe but brief drops in performance, they will be gone by the time you regain control at least.
-The AR world will generally have worse performance, frequently staying around 40 FPS.
-Using the cameras will cause a stark drop in performance to around 20 FPS most of the time. This is actually fine since that's just about the kind of FPS the camera feed displays in-game anyway so it shouldn't effect too much. However, there are certain instances where you will get an even sharper drop when using the cameras that lingers after getting off the camera for a little bit. These mostly seem to happen when something else is displaying over the camera feed, such as when you get messages from Helpi. I suppose the game doesn't like a bunch of UI elements on-screen at once.
Overall I think the game runs fairly well performance wise, just with some odd hiccups. If you wanted the most stable and consistent experience possible on the Steam Deck, I would recommend capping your frame rate to 40 FPS from the Quick Menu on your Steam Deck, as this is where the AR world tends to hover around while most of the rest of the game can easily maintain 40 FPS. Base game is a more consistent 60 FPS since there is no alternate world and things are generally less cluttered in the environment, though it's more susceptible to stutters or long load times when transitioning between areas as the game needs to stream in parts of it's more open-ended map.
This was my second playthrough of the DLC (the first I did on my main PC), so I had a good enough idea of what to do to avoid dying, but I had a few unfair/buggy deaths due to the Music Man section in particular just not working properly. I didn't cut anything out of the playthrough but since the load times after dying are kind of long, I'll try to add chapters to the video soon after publishing.
I was hoping to find a few more of the secrets and collectibles than on my first playthrough, but I found most of the same ones it seems. :P
