DFFOO JP - This is why they ain't giving us Freya FR/BT any time soon! RE-SHINRYU Difficulty Cheese
A new difficulty is finally upon us!
This new difficulty, called "RE-SHINRYU", shakes things up by bringing back Lufenia Orbs, but as a trade-off, the boss no longer has a Force Time. Instead, their Force gauge resets to 0% when they use their Force Attack, so you can think of it as a form of recast ability. The enemy Force Gauge will still freeze during your Force Time though.
However, what the devs didn't account for is that Freya and Kain were not only already capable of duo runs in Shinryu up to Odin Spiritus, but they ALSO can dodge Lufenia Orbs entirely! This means Freya/Kain duos are no longer just a flex strat among many flex strats. It's now a very strong cheese strat to ignore the mechanics of RE-SHINRYU completely, especially since you don't need to cancel Force Time. I'm gonna predict that they won't be giving Freya her FR/BT for a very long time then because of that, considering how well she works for this already.
The only slightly annoying thing for me in this run is that after the second and third HP thresholds, the enemies get that "heal back most of the damage they take" aura that was normally tied to enemy Force Time in the past. It doesn't seem like you can avoid it, but it also seems to just go away after a few turns. I went in completely blind though so I'm not sure. I personally don't like that as it just delays the inevitable rather than adding any challenge, but oh well.
Also, this is my second clear of this stage using this strat, as some confidential notifications popped up on my phone near the end of the first recording, and recording it again was simply easier than editing black bars or whatever over it. So that's why I had a previous score.
