Howdy hope you are all well! I thought I would do a quick Video about PS5 Storage and the issues I came across and how I resolved them with loading comparisons. FIX below the HDD details;

Through research I have found the best bang for buck External HDD for storage and speed without out spending lots on expensive SSD's with low storage.

The Drive I use is the new(ish) Toshiba 2Tb basics USB 3 it has read speeds of 540 Megabytes per second with is crazy good for a NON SSD.

VS the older PS4 and other external hard drives usb 2/3 read speeds of 120 Megabytes per second.

I found transferring to and from the PS5 internal storage did not take too long and could possibly work well while installing everything PS4 onto the External and then if you wanted just transfer over to the PS5 for even more increased load times.

However I did not noticed massive differences with game loading times with this external drive vs the PS5 internal maybe other games it is more noticeable, I think the 540 mps read speed is very good for this!

-Storage FIX-
I have found through research on Reddit and various other forums that for most drives the problem is the base format most drives come with.. which is NTFS... Now when you plug this straight into the PS5 and go to storage to format it allows you to quick format to the PS5 compatible version exFAT.. however this doesn't appear to work probably and thus causes many crashes when playing and downloading!

Now I found plugging the HDD into a PC or laptop and doing a FULL format as exFAT (by unticking the quick) this does run for a while! however upon plugging back into the PS5 and going to storage it asks to quick format again.. Do this and then it should be fine and good to go.. I have had no issues doing this so far! Prior to this it kept crashing my PS5!

-BONUS FIX FOR PS4 DLC NOT INSTALLING!-
When installing to an external Hard drive it appears the PS5 has issues installing the DLC it will download and install the main game, but will error on the dlc..
FIX - Delete the download from your uploads/downloads section then hover over the game icon, push the options button, then choose Manage Game Content. Click each DLC from there. No idea why this work but it does lol
