The movie Fixedx has had an uphill battle from the moment we found out how nutty the story would be. At first people were excited that we were finally getting a brand new theatrical 2D animated film, that’s geared at adults nonetheless! Helmed by one of the greatest minds working in animation, Genndy Tartakovsky, who’s already made an incredible contribution to adult animation with Primal. However, the film centering itself around crude humor was never going to work in the present day, when animation has been making huge strides changing its perception in the mainstream. With films like K-Pop Demon Hunters and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trying to appease to all ages, Genndy had the golden opportunity to make something that appeals exclusively to adults while subverting the usual expectations that comes with an adult animated comedy. Instead...we got Fixed, a movie that doesn't belong here.
