Fixing a broken monitor (no display/power) - CAN IT BE DONE?!?
Before today I'd never attempted to fix a broken monitor. I had no idea if this would even work.
I bought this LG Flatron W2442PA off Facebook for $5. It was "not working", but I found out that the display actually DOES work, it's just that the monitor doesn't respond or show video. Also it turns off after a few seconds. Hardly ideal for a monitor.
I suspected that there was an issue with the power board in the monitor, and sure enough when I took it apart I found bowed and blown capacitors on the power board. SO, I ordered a replacement from China, and it finally arrived today.
Watch me try to fix this thing! Place your bets. Can it be done!?!
