In this episode of Fix It Friday, I take another look at my original Sega Mega Drive. What started as a seemingly dead console turned into something else entirely… and gave me the perfect excuse to install a region mod I bought ages ago.

The mod allows this Mega Drive to switch between PAL, and NTSC, with a smart tricolour LED to indicate the selected region. I walk through the full install, including how to solder the necessary connections, route the wires cleanly, and deal with the original LED mount. We also test it using an Everdrive cartridge to show how games behave across all three regions – including differences in speed, language, and screen refresh rate.
