FIXING my PS3, YLOD, Blinking Red Light
on 11-27-2015 MY PS3 died again with YLOD :( It lasted almost exactly a year.
on 2-29-2016 - I reflowed it and played it about 4 hours. Still working good. I Still have not used flux. But this time I cleaned off the glue from the from the GPU so the heat plate would fit down on the GPU better. I also ordered a USB external fan for it from amazon for $11. I will let you know when it dies again.....
on 4/5/2016 my PS3 Died a 3rd time. ug. YLOD again, it only lasted about a month after the second reflow. I thought I did a better job this time, plus I thought the fan was going to help. I was wrong... :(

Yup, yellow light of death... I think they should call it Blinking red light of death. BRLOD. Would make more sense. I take you on a 20 minute adventure as I try to repair my soft modded version 1 fat PS3. Do I succeed? Should I have used flux? maybe... I should of kept it on its side in a cooler place when it worked. I should of put on fresh thermal paste a year ago and took it apart and drilled some holes in the bottom to vent it better. Maybe I should of paid someone to reball it instead? Maybe I shouldn't of bothered. lol. I show how to test the power supply because you don't want to nuke your board with a heat gun if you don't have to. It fixes your PS3 if its not your power supply but it is only a temporary fix. Each time you reflow your board you shorten its life span and it gets YLOD faster each time until it can't be fixed anymore.
