My Quake 4 VR vid - http://youtu.be/RI0b0ZYKDUw
The source code for quake was made open a while back. So because of this someone incorporated Oculus Rift support. This port has several different aim/view modes and even separate head and gun aiming or decoupled camera and aiming. It doesn't have razer hydra support yet unfortunately but maybe it will be added someday because it is open source. Maybe you could add it? Maybe I could?. doubt it ;P. I am using the wii motion plus to emulate the mouse in the game to control my gun aiming. It actually works better to just face aim and not use a gun. But since when to people have guns tied to their heads? Sometimes it feels and looks natural to use the sharpshooter sometimes it doesn't match up. I use a program called glovepie to allow the wii motion plus to emulate a mouse. I use another program called motioninjoy to allow me to use the PS move controllers inside the sharpshooter peripheral as gamepads that the PC can read. It is a pain in the butt getting it all working. takes a lot of tries. I am not sure its worth it in the end because it doesn't give you a one to one positional tracking experience that the Hydra does in natively supported games. You can use this setup for about any FPS PC GAME with the help of other apps like Vorpx to get them working on the Oculus rift. I personally would rather use it on decoupled aiming first person shooters. So you can move the gun without changing your view, and visa versa. This setup worked better in a game called Territory Defense. I am not really sure why. Quake 1 was fun to play in the rift though. It even had some jump scares later that I didn't record. Stuff is always scarier in the Rift. I am surprised how good of a game it is. Getting through the maze aspect of it is pretty dated though and tiresome.
