Developed & published by Black Hive Media, Kova is a side-scrolling action RPG in the metroidvania style set in a distant, technologically-advanced future when human-kind has colonized planets across galaxies. Take on the role of Kova, a mercenary-explorer surviving through tough times as she crosses the galaxy. Interact with larger-than-life characters, travel to hand-painted planets, and struggle against vicious creatures as you unravel the universe's greatest mystery - why has humanity never encountered intelligent alien life?
If Kova gets fully funded, Black Hive is currently planning for a release in 2017 on (PC/Mac/Linux) and on (Xbox/Switch/PS4) in 2018.

You take control of Kova, a space mercenary that has found herself between paydays as she flies to a local Hub in hopes of a job lead. She's soon given a warm welcome by a nearby opponent's ship that takes out her main thruster. With no choice but to land, she sets coordinates to a close by (but extremely cold and uninhabited) planet where she must pick up the pieces to progress. After mining for some resources on the icy planet, she is able to get her ship back online only to stumble upon an ancient beacon. When she actives this beacon, some sort of encrypted chip ejects from it, and the radar on the ship goes ballistic with several more beacon signals. What purpose do these beacons serve? Who put them here? Who else might be after them?
History behind KOVA:
Kova was born out of Mandy and Blake Lowry’s love for science-fiction narratives, and a desire to bring more depth to the first game they developed together, Chibi Chaingun.
Key Features:
- Join one of three factions, each with their own perks, missions and dialog options
- Craft shift upgrades, ammo and other items
- FPS-like combat controls paired-down for 2D, allowing you to fully aim and control trajectory
- Take on side missions to get information and earn credits, so you can upgrade your skills, ship and weapons
- Uncover one of the universe’s greatest mysteries by collecting and analyzing beacons
- Explore a variety of planets with their own distinct atmosphere, different town hubs and side-missions to take on.

He has talents you haven't seen yet and has over 10 years experience in the game industry drawing, paint, and desiging things a myriad of clients.
Mandy Lowry – Co-Founder| Programmer:
Mandy is a self-taught programmer, crafter of fermented drinks and love to lose herself in code. Her favorite all time game is “Viva Pinata” or possibly “Costume Quest”, mostly depending on the the season. Mandy was head of development at and Austin tech company and has 8 years of experience in the industry
