Here's what I think happened:
1. The instant we touched Snowcone, the game coincidentally started a random encounter.
2. Upon returning to the Overworld, the game said, "Oh Freddy is touching Snowcone, time to start the boss fight."
3. Since the fight started almost INSTANTLY after the previous one, there was no time to load several things such as characters, a background, and, you know, damage. FORTUNATELY the bytes loaded and were able to damage HIM.
4. After defeating Snowcone in such a glitchy way, we went to fight Supergoon... and then the game remembered, "Oh you were supposed to take damage from attacks." BOOM, all damage from the Snowcone fight floods into my poor little characters, even the pink party!
I'm just GUESSING the glitch went similarly to that.
