š“ FOGGIA - From the violence they suffered to the stage of a theater, here is "DISINCANTATION."
Some women victims of violence have decided to take to the stage of a theater, accompanied by the Foggia dancers OrEx led by Francesca Trisciuoglio Capozzi, and will do so on December 12th at the Teatro Regio in Capitanata.
"These are women who have embarked on a journey of escape, thus distancing themselves from their abuser," comments Trisciuoglio Capozzi, who is choreographing the show, "and they were selected by our partner association Impegno Donna. We started five years ago, and the show we're about to stage is a repeat of 'Disincanto,' which was previously produced with these women. This repeat performance is funded by the Puglia Regional Council's call for proposals, 'Futura, Puglia for Equality.' We chose Dance Theaterāwhich we'd prefer to call Dance Theaterābecause it doesn't limit itself to the beauty of movement, but uses gesture, word, and sound as direct and visceral answers to questions about these women's experiences. The show, which reinvents the Grimm fairy tales, thus becomes an authentic narrative of their experiences, transformed into artistic expression." One of the show's leading women explained her reason for being on stage: "I'm here because there are certainly other women victims of violence in the audience, and maybe seeing me will make them think there's a way out."
