For Jimenez the Bell Tolls | MP Plays | Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux | 44
F in the chat for Jimenez.
Looking back, I think I was mistaken that the “law vs. chaos” alignment in Strange Journey being totally meaningless. Consider that Zelenin, the hero of Law, is Russian, and Jimenez, the hero of Chaos, is apparently Mexican. Russia, given its history up to the present day, is associated with dictatorship and, given the long shadow of the USSR, dictatorship claiming to espouse lofty, utopian ideals. Mexico, meanwhile, is still the country of the Zapatista uprising, at least in Chiapas state, one of the most enduring libertarian socialist polities on Earth, though they (so far as I know) reject this categorization. In this way, Jimenez and Zelenin might be meant to correspond, respectively, to libertarian/anarchist vs. authoritarian modes of reigning in the excesses of modernity. The problem is that they’re both still complete strawmen, especially Jimenez, who, if he is supposed to be an anarchist, is as incoherent a clown as that bald asshole from The Legend of Korra.
