For Me It's Time to move on from Twitter - I Say, Twitter's new logo is not even original is it?
#Twitter #Logo #goodbye
The X logo for me was the final drop that allowed me to finally disengage from the Twitter platform that I was on for a little over 14 years. It was fun posting stuff using that very limited amount of characters. It was the final drop so to speak.
And come on - that logo is NOT original. It's at best a derivative. How different can X-logo's be right? It's a letter. An X is 'A freaking X', like some like to point out. How may possible unique variations of an X can there possibly exist? Well ever heard of fonts...? Fonts... used in logos. Like Coca Cola has a very unique font. Use that and the company won't be happy. If you use a distinct design, or an original font that is different and original enough it's fine. But they weren't original, far from it. For the new π logo actually just is π₯ππ πππ₯π₯ππ£ "π" ππ£π π π₯ππ πΉππππππ ππ£π πΉπ ππ ππ ππ₯ .
The Blackboard bold in fact originated from the attempt to write bold letters on blackboards in a way that clearly differentiated them from non-bold letters (by using the edge rather than the point of a chalk). It then made its way back into print form as a separate style from ordinary bold, possibly starting with the original 1965 edition of Gunning and Rossi's textbook on complex analysis.
When the scientific world started to adopt computers that had graphical capabilities and GUIs similar to like the Xerox GUI on their UNIX machines it's no more than logical that long before Twitter, X-org probably was inspired by this font when they came up with a logo for their X-Window system for many Unix and Linux systems. In fact the X logo for the old X Window System (X11, or simply X) is a windowing system for bitmap displays, common on Unix-like operating systems uses that same Blackboard font. Often characters from this font are used to indicate a specific mathematical or scientific meaning.

Just an X as a logo? You'd expect something unique... instead... it's not... It reminds me of something else because it's the logo of something else. Twitter using this same font with the X for their new logo to me is a little grating. They say they want to be the next best internet thing since sliced bread and yet the bread they sliced seems a little stale instead of fresh.
Of course me leaving Twitter is about much more than the use of a new logo. It's about the things the new CEO Linda Yaccarino is saying about the new X platform and what their intentions are.
Quote: ""X being the future state of unlimited interactivity - centered in audio, ideo, messaging, payments/baking - creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we're just beginning to imagine"
I think this is something Facebook has tried and has failed at. To be the all in one internet thing that everybody uses.
It might sequester people falling into that trap into their filter bubbles even more, not unlike a non virtual reality real world Matrix type of situation. Where everything is monitored, monetized, where information being fed to you is maximized for profit. Where all your decisions, your life and all they want to provide a service for will be scooped up by AI that will learn your patterns of thought, your behaviors, even on different part so the day 24/7. Ads can be served to you at times where a maximum benefit can be achieved. They'll know you and predict your behavior even better than you yourself will be able to. If all this what they want to serve sits behind a paywall - possibly even at various levels it'll not be accessible to all.
So yeah, yet another change over at Elon's Social media platform. The world will not cease turning...but I will cease to actively use Twi....er Ecks... X... or treat it as one of my main social media platforms... For 14 years I've been on that platform. It was a good ride. And now it will change beyond recognition no doubt. Time to move on for me personally.
