For MoviePass, Staying Afloat May Be Mission Impossible
According to Deadline, MoviePass experienced a Thursday night outage in which the company ran out of cash and had to secure a $6.2M loan Friday morning to cover “merchant and fulfillment processors”. Deadline says a number of the movie ticket service’s subscribers online can’t specifically purchase Mission: Impossible – Fallout tickets at big chain theaters like AMC, Regal and Cinemark, and only at MoviePass partner theaters such as Landmark. The outage extends only to Fallout, and not other second weekend releases like Equalizer 2 or Teen Titans Go! To the Movies at big chain theaters. The Fallout block movie is not just occurring at Los Angeles, but in other markets as well.
Deadline states that industry insiders say the MoviePass outage will not have any negative impact on Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘s ticket sales this weekend but it is clear that the business model is definitely in trouble and it seems that it is only a matter of time before the company might falter. Jeff Sneider, Perri Nemiroff and Mark Reilly sit down to offer their thoughts on the news, and what it could mean for the future of the company and if subscribers of the pass should be concerned. Make sure you COMMENT with your thoughts about Lando’s return. Remember to LIKE and SHARE this video on your social media and SUBSCRIBE to the channel for more news videos like this!
