Forced switch phenomena (Generation III)
Read description for more details:
This video demonstrates the results of reviving a Pokémon when all Pokémon are already fainted on the field in battle within Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon Ruby. This is not necessarily impossible to exploit because uses of the Pomeg Glitch are notably more versatile in Pokémon Emerald and using a healing item on a negative HP Pokémon opens up the possibility of healing its HP to 0; fainting it but never making the player white out even if it was the last battle-able Pokémon because a white out is possible only through taking damage.
A method of getting all of your Pokémon fainted without whiting out:
1) Exploit the Pomeg glitch by using a Pomeg Berry on a Pokémon with relatively high HP EVs when the Pokémon's HP is low. Make sure all of your other Pokémon are fainted.
2) If the HP rolls over to below 0 (scrolls through 65535) use a healing item to try and make it pass 0 again.
3) The HP 'rises' to 0 but the player doesn't white out because a white out is impossible through healing.
Revive trick and sending out your opponent's Pokémon 'YOP' (Thanks VaeporSage from the Hall of Origin tweaking website):
1)With all fainted Pokémon (see above), enter a battle and on the first turn revive another Pokémon.
2) After the first turn the game recognizes your first Pokémon has no health left and forces you to switch. Select your revived Pokémon.
3) The game states that your opponent is "about to switch Pokémon", choose YES to switch but this time choose Cancel sending out your opponent's Pokémon.
~óË {e Ái/B óË ÁN:
óË {e Ái (appears as ~B óË ÁN on some emulators) is a nicknamed version of "-", the base species data for an Egg (hex: 019C) using an invalid animation frame (probably of Conversion - length 0 ) in Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen. Previously a forced switch was triggered on FireRed/LeafGreen to send out B óË ÁN but only by cheating, the below method makes it possible to send this out without cheating.
1) Trade a Pokémon with invalid (close within a range below 0 HP) to Pokémon FireRed LeafGreen.
2) Perform the Revive Trick as mentioned above and the result should be a óË {e Ái.
"-" with an invalid checksum; rendered as "Bad Egg":
On Ruby and Sapphire performing the Switch Glitch would allow the player to send out the same base species data for an Egg "-", this time successfully but rendered as a Bad Egg. However, using a healing item on a Pokémon with invalid (just below 0) HP in Ruby and Sapphire automatically reverts the Pokémon's current HP to its maximum HP, so the Switch Glitch is actually impossible without cheating in the original Ruby and Sapphire (because otherwise you can't just trade your last batteable Pokémon away).
