The Ford Maverick is North American Truck of the Year. It's fun and affordable with unlimited customization opportunities. Ford has already used the Maverick nameplate in the past for its two-door sedan from the 70s, but even though it ain't new, the Ford Maverick pickup truck is fresh and innovative.

Sharing the chassis of the Bronco Sport, the Ford Maverick appeared on the market as the smallest pickup truck this iconic American brand has in its offer — and it has been received very well. As crossovers have shown, people desire more functionality and efficiency, and this compact pickup truck delivers just that.

The Ford Maverick is a five-passenger, four-door pickup truck that comes with one of the two available fully-hybrid powertrains. The first is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque when combined with an electric motor. This powertrain is a perfect cost-efficient option for those who want to enjoy an estimated 40 MPG fuel economy in the city and drive up to 500 miles on a single filling of the gas tank. It also allows you to tow from 1,500 to 2,000 pounds.

The more capable alternative is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine is more snappy and charismatic, providing a towing rate of 4,000 pounds with the 4K Tow Package.

But regardless of the engine, the Ford Maverick is a decent performer that shows excellent capability off-road. The ride can take you places and look good in the process with its rugged grille and LED headlights.
