Thoughts/Ramblings:
No other fighting game is quite as satisfying as DOA when it comes to shutting down your opponent's offense with correct predictions. Anti-airs exist, but what about anti-lows or anti-mids. Other fighting games just give you a block button. Holds add an extra layer of depth that's very addicting. It's not possible to enjoy a fighting game as much without them once you experience how amazing they are to have as an option.
Tomonobi Itagaki was the most intelligent fighting game designer at the time, and whoever else on the team helped him form the idea for seamless universal counters.
I enjoy other fighters and those not even in the fighting game genre. But they get boring after 30 minutes to an hour these days since every time I get on DOA I find little satisfaction in it.
I only know 80% of Hayate's moves. I never practiced any combos with him. The only practice I've had was experimenting during online matches and the experience I developed naturally merely by watching other people play him.
I have little desire to practice optimal juggles since I don't respect this game. But one day I will learn his combo throw. Hayate mirror matches are difficult for me, so I want to even the playing field a bit with that.
I'm sure they would have added Ein back into the game at some point if support for the game didn't end.
I don't want a reboot or DOA7. I want them to fix DOA6. It's quick money. It's easy to earn back people's trust. Just release a trailer showcasing many of the improvements you've made.
People aren't mad at the number 6 itself, they are mad that DOA6 was rushed. If anything it's the name "Dead or Alive" that carries a stigma with it.
Also, a DOA6 Ultimate would hold people over until they had time to make a new game.
