There are two total leniency frames for the whole trick. Meaning you can miss two of the frame perfect pauses by one frame each, or one pause by two frames, and the trick should still work.

To start, it is possible to pause one frame before you gain control of Link. This frame is identifiable as the last frame the nearest alcove walls still go to the top of the screen. On the next frame, that wall will go off the side of the screen instead. This 0th frame pause is ideal because then you can take your time to get the control stick angle before link turns one frame later. In case you dont get this pause, you should be holding the control stick during the door cutscene, choosing a left or right direction quickly based on the initial camera as you enter.

Control stick input must be in the range 18 to 23 inclusive to get a working sidehop angle. This is true whether speaking about one axis for sidehops or the other axis for backflips. On each sidehop you want to pause one frame after and buffer in the cutscene item. It will then be impossible to pause again until you land, at which point you'll want to pause on the first possible frame.

Of course this is all possible without any pauses but...good luck.
