Forest in a Bottle - A Blender Eevee Animation
A little desktop terrarium rain garden - bringing a little nature inside.
All done in real-time in Blender 2.93 with Eevee. Playing with dynamic paint (waves) for the water - along with a particle system for the raindrop interactions. A combination of Quixel Megascans assets, Ian Hubert pateron models and procedural modelling for the moss and rocks. The bamboo was procedural and the trees were created using the built-in Sapling Tree Gen addon. All lit from a HDRI, a baked overhead area light and a small point light inside the lantern.
Rendered in Eevee at 256 samples per frame - which worked out to about 4-5 mins per frame on an overclocked 1060. Despite that, still had some trouble with noise from the subsurface scattering in the leaves, especially on the wider shots. Nonetheless, compared to cycles, there wasn't actually that much appreciable difference - except for the time: with cycles, at 1080x1080 - it was averaging around 1 hour 40 mins per frame at 1000 samples - and still with a considerable amount of noise. Compared to that - I'll take the 5 mins!
Really looking forward to where they take eevee in the future!
