⭕ Format Specifiers ගැන දැන ගනිමු | Format Specifiers | C programming සිංහල Tutorial Episode 11
🛑 In the C programming language, format specifiers are special codes used in formatted input and output functions to specify the type and format of data being read from or written to the standard input/output streams (such as printf and scanf).
🛑 Format specifiers are preceded by a percent sign (%) and are used to define the type and format of the data being processed. They indicate how the data should be interpreted or presented. Here are some commonly used format specifiers in C:
✔ %d or %i: Used for integers (signed decimal format).
✔ %f: Used for floating-point numbers (decimal notation).
✔ %c: Used for characters.
✔ %s: Used for strings (sequences of characters).
✔ %u: Used for unsigned integers.
✔ %x or %X: Used for hexadecimal (base-16) representation.
✔ %o: Used for octal (base-8) representation.
✔ %p: Used for pointers (memory addresses).
✔ %e or %E: Used for scientific notation of floating-point numbers.
✔ %g or %G: Used for a general format for floating-point numbers (chooses shorter representation
between %f and %e).
🛑 Format specifiers can also include additional formatting options, such as field width, precision, and flags for padding, alignment, and leading zeros. For example, %5d specifies a field width of 5 characters for printing an integer.
🛑 It's important to use the appropriate format specifier corresponding to the type of data you are working with to ensure correct interpretation and representation. Failure to do so can result in undefined behavior or incorrect output.
