🛑 What is scanf function in C programming
scanf() is a function in the C programming language that is used to read formatted input from the standard input stream (usually the keyboard) and store it in variables. It allows you to take input from the user and assign the entered values to variables for further processing.
The scanf() function takes two main arguments: a format control string and a variable list. The format control string specifies the format in which the input is expected, including placeholders that indicate the type and position of the data to be read. The variable list consists of pointers to the variables where the input values will be stored.
In the format control string, you specify the expected format of the input data. For example, to read an integer, you would use the %d placeholder. Similarly, %f is used for reading a float, %c for a single character, %s for a string, and so on. The placeholders are preceded by a percentage sign (%).
The ampersand (&) operator is used before each variable in the scanf() function to provide the memory address of the variable where the input value should be stored. This is necessary because scanf() requires pointers to the variables in order to modify their values.
