Former NBA player Delonte West spotted begging
Delonte West, a former NBA player who was LeBron James' teammate in the Cleveland Cavaliers and later fading out, was seen begging. It was learned that West was trying to cope with psychological problems.
A new video of Delonte West, formerly playing with LeBron James for the Cleveland Cavaliers, surfaced over the weekend.
According to the Independent's report, footage taken on a highway in Alexandria, Virginia, USA, shows the former NBA player asking for money from passers-by. It is not clear what is written on the cardboard that he carries in his hand.
The 38-year-old famous name had come to the fore with similar news before. West, who left the NBA 10 years ago, was involved in a fight in his hometown of Washington in January 2020. The former basketball player, who was seen bloodied and handcuffed, surprised his fans.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban took over the situation in 2021. West, who was reported to be trying to cope with bipolar disorder along with his drug addiction, was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic.
He was arrested for cursing officers for banging on the doors of a police station in October 2021, but then he seemed to be on the mend.
The name of West, whose training footage was published, was among the names that could participate in the three-on-three basketball tournament called BIG3, where hip-hop legend Ice Cube gathered former NBA stars. Although it was announced with an official statement that he was among the candidates, he could not be selected for the last squad.
Picked 24th by the Boston Celtics in 2004, the star guard has subsequently played for the Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks.
After leaving the NBA in 2012, he continued his career in China, ending his professional career in 2015.
