Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 revealed: doubled its power
The RS Rally2 version of the Fabia model, which Skoda introduced more than a year ago, has all-wheel drive system.
Skoda Motorsport has unveiled its rally car based on the fourth-generation Fabia. Fabia RS Rally2, which Skoda calls 'the most successful rally vehicle of recent years', is powered by a four-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.6 liters.
The vehicle, which doubles the power of its predecessor and has an all-wheel drive system, produces 293 horsepower. The 1.6-liter engine, which produces 430 Nm of torque, is derived from the 2.0-liter engine also used in vehicles such as the Skoda Octavia RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI.
While mechanical differential locks are used on the front and rear axles of the vehicle, there is an electro-hydraulic control that is activated when the handbrake is applied to make cornering easier.
Fabia RS Rally2 can reach a maximum speed of 200 kilometers.
For almost a year, the Skoda Motorsport team has put the car through extensive testing on asphalt, gravel and snow to get the car ready for the track in the best possible way.
This includes trials in the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Croatia, Germany, Belgium and Spain, as well as trials in extreme winter conditions in northern Finland since summer 2021.
During the 2022 season, 100 percent sustainable gasoline will be used in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). To comply with the regulations of the FIA, the RS Rally2 has an 82.5 liter fuel tank made of nylon and rubber with a special foam inside to reduce the risk of fuel leaks. The fuel used here is obtained from completely renewable resources.
