Square Enix, the publisher behind Forspoken, admitted that the game's sales were "dismal" and that the reviews were "challenging". That left the company uncertain about hitting its year-over-year financial growth target, especially as "many" of its smaller games also underperformed last year. However, the company acknowledged that the game has some positives, especially in its parkour and combat capabilities, and that this feedback will lead to better development of future games. Square Enix expects to improve performance with new titles coming out in February and March, but is mindful of potential risks to its FY2023/3 earnings.
