Based on the 2-Series Coupe, the BMW M2 served as the entry-level vehicle of BMW's M line of high-performance cars built from the success of the German luxury car company's motorsports involvement.

The M2 Coupe is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L 6-cylinder engine mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT and when its overboost feature is engaged, it produces 370HP of power and 465Nm of torque, resulting to a 0-100kph in 4.3 seconds and onwards to an electronically limited 250kph.

Apart from the engine, the M2 features stronger and lighter wheel carriers with improved suspension components as well as the locking differential from its big brothers.

Chris Harris drove the M2 on the Series 23 episode of Top Gear. In his words, "It takes you back to when driving was brilliantly simple..." Then, in the Chris Harris Drives webcast, he even compares it with its predecessor, the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, around Anglesey.
