The ACR name has returned to be the track-ready, street-legal version of the Dodge Viper. Drawing inspirations from the GTS-R racing machine, the Viper ACR features the most fiercest aerodynamics package offered that delivers almost a ton of downforce at its 177mph top speed courtesy of its adjustable, twin-element, carbon-fiber rear wing, carbon-fiber diffuser, an extendable front splitter, and dive planes, not to mention the attachable louvers on the hood.
It still has the same 8.4L V10 engine as the standard Viper but it has gained five more horsepower than the normal car, resulting to 645HP of power output.
Underneath, the Viper ACR features Bilstein race-tuned suspension with ten different settings and up to three inches of height adjustment, specially made tires from Kumho, and carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers for added stopping power.
Chris Evans drove the ACR in the Season 23 opener of BBC Top Gear and goes on a dogfight against the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, with Sabine Schmitz behind the wheel. When handed to The Stig, it set a 1:15.1 lap time. Moments later, Chris Harris reviewed it on his Chris Harris Drives webcast.
In the HISTORY Channel version of Top Gear, the boys are at Miller Motorsports Park, fighting against The Stig in a Dodge Viper ACR and their goal is to drive as long as possible before the national anthem made for its cars' country of origin ends. Sadly, no one beat The Stig but Tanner and the 911 GT3 managed to beat Adam's and Rut's.
