Ren Zhengfei, the CEO and founder of Huawei, has been quoted as telling the company to specialize in software. Due to US sanctions, Huawei is not permitted to mass-produce much of its hardware due to the sanctions prohibiting US companies from doing business with Huawei. Ren says Huawei should focus on software because the industry is “independent and autonomous”
