1Despite the resistance slowly gaining ground in New York City due to Chris' successful strikes against the Soviet forces, they suffer another setback as they discover that following the propaganda broadcast where he called for the resistance to keep fighting the Soviets, Troy has been taken to the central headquarters of the Soviet occupying force in New York City located on Governors' Island where he was killed by Vasilij Tatarin, who has effectively taken the role of the leader of the Soviet forces in New York City. Intent on avenging Troy's death and hoping to deal a crippling blow to the Soviet forces in the city, resistance leadership, namely Jones and Isabella decide to assassinate Tatarin within the Soviet base on Governors' Island. However, aware that the island is heavily guarded due to its importance to the occupiers and that troops on the island will be placed on high alert due to the resistance's earlier successful actions, they decide to send Chris to carry out Tatarin's assassination on his own rather than risk a full-blown assault, giving Chris a chance to avenge the death of his brother in the process. However, while Chris carries out the assignment successfully and assassinates Tatarin, once he returns to the resistance's headquarters, he is confronted by Jones who reveals to have actually been a Soviet operative named Mikhail Bulba who infiltrated the resistance as an sleeper agent by providing them an information used to weaken the Soviet forces in New York City with the ultimate goal of having them kill Tatarin in order to gain an promotion within Soviet military...
