Having collected all artifacts from Matier, Dante heads towards Uroboros Corporation's headquarters in order to find and save Lucia, only to find her pinned to a wall with Arius waiting for Dante. Confronting Arius, Dante drops off all artifacts before engaging him in an fight where he quickly gains an upper hand. However, just before he is able to deal a finishing blow to Arius, he fires an energy bolt at Lucia, forcing Dante to disengage in order to protect her. Taking the opportunity further, Arius uses his powers to destroy the entire building, forcing Dante to carry Lucia out and back to the older part of the island. With Arius having collected the artifacts in an confusion following the fight with Dante, island starts to gradually fall under demonic influence as Arius prepares to conduct a ritual to open the gate of hell and summon Agrosax with Dante setting off on his own in order to open the passageway into hell and stop Arius. However, as he tracks down four sealing spheres needed to open the portal leading there, Dante is attacked by Phantom, an arachnid demon which he first encountered and apparently killed during the mission on Mallet Island. Regardless, he engages the demon in fight and kills him before being accosted by more demons who attempt to prevent him from accessing the portal but fail as Dante is able to kill them all and enter the portal to hell...
