The purple dragon that isn't that other purple dragon is back! Freedom Planet 2 released on PC back in 2022, but this sequel finally hit consoles here in April.
You know how Shovel Knight was basically NES Platformers: The Game? Freedom Planet and its sequel wind up being Sega Genesis Platformers: The Game, and oh, what a game it is. After playing it, I can see why it caught up in developmental hang ups for a good while as this game is packed with levels and fun bosses all the way through. Heck, it even has a minigame based off the second-best sport in the world that you'll see in this vid!
Four characters, although we're only seeing the one here, but yeah. This goes right up there with stuff like Sonic Mania, Mega Man 11, both Curse of the Moon games, and Monster Boy as yet another great platformer that Nintendo did not make. Let's see why with a brief set of Switch clips here.
