Freespace: Between the Ashes - The Armageddon Clock
2This is the fifteenth mission of the Between the Ashes campaign anthology's first campaign, Slaves of Chaos. BtA is a series of three campaigns for Freespace 2, all set between the events of Silent Threat: Reborn and the start of the Freespace 2 campaign.
In this mission, we are invited to optionally go on a special operations mission. Naturally, I'm not going to refuse. The assignment is to meet a deep cover operative in the Antares Federation party, who has signaled for an in person meeting to make his or her latest report. As I was supposed to know (but didn't) Antares Federation forces have rescued Khonsu II, and the development so important that the agent must call a meeting is likely to be related.
Unlike previous Freespace content on the channel, this is going to be a blind first play! Between the Ashes was released during my decade off from this game, so all of this will be brand new to me as I play it. A sequel, Between the Ashes 2, is in development, but won't release until 2022.
