Freespace: Between the Ashes - How the West Was Lost
6This is the sixteenth mission of the Between the Ashes campaign anthology's first campaign, Slaves of Chaos. BtA is a series of three campaigns for Freespace 2, all set between the events of Silent Threat: Reborn and the start of the Freespace 2 campaign.
In light of the destabilizing situation in Antares, the GTA has decided to withdraw strategic assets from the system to deny their use to the Hammer of Light. In this mission, we are assigned to intervene at Midwinter Station, where workers objecting to the withdrawal of materiel are using station tugs to prevent our transports from docking. Deadly force is authorized, however we are also issued flail rifles to provide a less lethal option for moving their ships around. After securing GTA property from the station, we are to escort the convoy to the Beta Aquilae jump node.
Unlike previous Freespace content on the channel, this is going to be a blind first play! Between the Ashes was released during my decade off from this game, so all of this will be brand new to me as I play it. A sequel, Between the Ashes 2, is in development, but won't release until 2022.
