You know when you finish watching a show and walk over to get a snack, still processing the story you just watched. You open the fridge to look and while trying to decide whether to get some milk, beer, or maybe just grab some crackers from the clos-- wait a minute! There was a huge plot hole or other story element you didn't even notice until just now, and it changes the whole meaning of the story. That's Fridge Logic.

This song creates some of that with the transition at about 1:10. If you're not paying attention it sounds like everything got totally out of synch, but it really isn't. By the second transition at 2:20 (or after multiple listens) your brain will have worked it out and it all makes sense.

This song was written in a non-octave tuning based on a step size of 69.420 cents, as always the link to the tuning on scale workshop is below. Each "octave" is off by either 20 or 50 cents with the result that the lowest and highest notes don't actually align with each other.

The intro was inspired by "In the Light."

Created with Reaper using the Vital plugin for all the instruments, and Valhalla's Supermassive and Space Modulator plugins.

Modern western music has 12 notes per octave, each 100 cents apart, with 1200 cents being one octave. This scale does not land on octaves, and has 18 notes every 1249 cents. I created a scale using 13 of the 18 available notes, shown compared to the positions of the ones you're familiar with.
