Full Playthroughs for the Normal and True Endings in Beyond the Long Night
9Two playthroughs of Beyond the Long Night with the iron hat that sets your HP to 1 that goes for the normal ending in the first run and then the true ending in the encore run (which lets you keep your power-ups from the first run). You're stuck in a cycle of reincarnation inside a mountain where a storm kills everyone and resets everything again and again, with your goal to reach the overworld.
This is probably the luckiest run I've gotten in terms of power-ups from the sheer number of second chance and reincarnation pickups I found that basically trivialized the challenge of the iron hat. Curiously, despite being at one HP you can still get these power-ups to take damage and avoid dying (defensive superpowers like short-lived immortality and shield generator can also help). Even with as many as I found in the first run I still almost blow through them all. I didn't realize they reset for an encore run although they weren't really needed as much then. I also managed to get a very strong offensive build that required avoiding some power-ups in the encore run to avoid breaking the game as if you keep increasing fire rate beyond a point all of the shots (especially with a lot of effects like explosive bullets) can severely lag the game.
Since I already have everything unlocked I can just access the true ending from the Sanctuary but otherwise to get it you'll need to talk to Sara in the depths, wait for the red storm to reach a monument in each zone to then blow it up with an explosive to get a rune, use the three rune code at the wall to access the strange dimension, and finally navigate through there to get the key to the barrier. Dying to Sara does give an opportunity to reset before the fight (rather generous since it's significantly harder than the guardian).
This is a game from 2023 that I really enjoyed. I particularly like the music. It's not an overly difficult game and it's pretty easy to become overpowered but for some reason I just really got into this one. Since tomorrow marks it releasing two years ago I figured I'd upload this.
