AOVs are often set up and controlled in Katana templates through custom tools, such as macros or LiveGroups, which allow artists to easily select the required passes at any point. In this video, you’ll learn how to set up Arnold AOVs using light path expressions (LPEs) and create a macro for toggling those AOVs which can be reused across other projects whenever needed.

Chapters:
0:00 - Intro
2:20 - Create custom AOVs
6:04 - Nuke Bridge: Preview your passes in Nuke
7:41 - Use Holdouts to remove parts of your scene from renders
8:40 - Batch rendering: Render files in the background
9:23 - Creating AOVs manually and for other renderers
11:37 - Optimize your template for reuse
