A strange title, Gachapin Challenge was made by Hudson Soft and they couldn't resist shoving Bomberman in there somewhere. My friend Plasma Captain noted these characters are called Gachaboms or Gachapin Bombermen. They actually went as far as to name these weird little guys.

You'll notice in the comparison at 12:00 that this multiplayer mode is mostly a resprited version of the one from Bomberman Story DS. Hmm.
