Game Boy Advance Dual Speaker Amp Mod Experiment!
1This is a video in which I provided an experimental modification for the original Game Boy Advance having two speakers instead of one with a PAM8403 audio amplifier board. The PAM8403 board can be used for the audio amplifier mod on the GBA, however because that board has the ability to use two speakers for other projects, I decided to make an experiment for this GBA having two speakers instead of one! I originally came up with that idea on June 8th, 2020 when I had a GBA console & a PAM8403 board where I wondered to myself if it would be possible to have two speakers with that amp board instead of one, & it worked!
I began this dual speaker amp mod last night & that I was soldering wires from the PAM8403 board to the GBA motherboard & installed two speakers on there. Today, I was modifying the shell so that while there would be two speakers on the back, there would be none on the front & I applied bondo on the front shell where the speaker grill was. Also on the back shell, I made holes for the two speakers for this mod. While this experimental mod does work, due to my wiring for the speakers, you can see that the wires are in the way of the cartridge slot shown in the video. Also, I had to remove one of the capacitors to close things up properly while the two speakers were on the back shell. In order to not have wires in the way of the cartridge slot & have all 4 capacitors, I would have to wire the speakers differently or place the speakers in a different location & I would have to use Helder’s GBA capacitors or something.
