Game Boy Review - Original, Pocket, and Color Models! Overview of History, Variants, and Accessories
Originally released in 1989, the Nintendo Game Boy was a huge success, and had led to Nintendo being the portable gaming powerhouse that they are today.
What started as a grey brick that consumed four AA batteries eventually turned into a smaller and more compact version with a variety of colors to choose from. This theme of creating a large number of variants and special editions is something that Nintendo continues to do with their portable consoles today, and depending on whether or not you are a collector you may either love or hate this trend. Regardless, in this video I will be displaying every variant I own of the original Game Boy (also known as the Play It Loud! series of color variants), Game Boy Pocket, and Game Boy Color!
Also being examined in this video is the large number of crazy accessories that were released for the Game Boy throughout its lifespan, including two of the most famous: the Game Boy Camera and Game Boy Printer. While they may seem like incredibly obsolete pieces of technology today, anyone who used them in the past would tell you that they were fun to use back then when the idea of being able to take a mini portable camera with you anywhere was still a new and fresh idea.
In this video we will not be looking at handheld consoles such as Game & Watches or the Game Boy Light, although I did make a video in the past about my Game & Watch collection which you can check out if you are interested in going even further back in time!
So with all of that said, I really hope that you enjoy a look into my personal Game Boy collection, and have fun learning about the history of the small but awesome machine that brought hundreds of hours of fun to millions of people around to globe, and of course was also the birthplace of series such as Pokemon and Kirby which still continue to be loved today!
