The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants is the first video game based on the animated television series The Simpsons. It was published by Acclaim (NES) in 1991, Ocean Software (Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64) in 1991 and Flying Edge (Genesis, Master System) in 1992 and 1992 (Game Gear). It was developed by Imagineering and Arc Developments. In this platform game, the player controls Bart Simpson through five levels as he tries to ruin the aliens' plan to take over the world.

Compared to the NES version, the Game Gear version has fewer secrets and some items are unreachable. Also, in the last level, it seems impossible to open electronic lock on the first floor without guessing or knowing it beforehand. You start this level in the bottom left corner, compared to bottom right corner of the other versions, and you can keep as many rods at once as you want.

This is a pretty neat game. However, it is essentially a piece of interactive license protection software, since it is impossible to beat this game without a manual. -
